Celebrate Our Faces of Literacy

For over three decades, Houston's Center for Literacy has been working to ensure a strong and literate city for our future generations by supporting the Mayor's Coalition for Literacy, an association of over 70 literacy providers.

Join us in celebrating our "Faces of Literacy" as members of our Coalition share different perspectives on how HCL has helped their centers' adult education programs. We invite you to check back here as we feature more thoughts from various literacy providers throughout the Greater Houston area.

Make your contribution to Houston's literacy today by donating to our Literacy Fund. Thank you for your generosity and continued support!

Who We Are

Houston Center for Literacy,
a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is working to improve literacy rates by connecting literacy providers and resources to support adult learners.

Our Mission

In order to boost the economy of Houston, Houston Center for Literacy strengthens providers of adult education who, in turn, provide necessary skills for underemployed citizens to fulfill their potential and become economically self-sufficient.

Our Vision

We envision a city where every adult is equipped with the basic skills they need to qualify for jobs that will allow them to support their families and thrive as prosperous, independent, successful members of our society.
